The Australian Wildlife Sanctuary is a licensed Exhibited Animals Establishment

The sanctuary holds a licence issued pursuant to the Exhibited Animals Protection Regulation, 2010 (NSW) under the Exhibited Animals Protection Act 1986 (the Act) and is a record that authorises the authority holder to:

Exhibition of animals at a fixed establishment

The holder of the approval must comply with the following condition(s):

  • The authority holder must ensure that the provisions of the Exhibited Animal Protection Act 1986 and Exhibited Animal Protection Regulation 2010 are complied with in relation to the carrying on of any activity authorised by the licence.

  • Animals must be exhibited in accordance with the 'General standards for exhibiting animals in NSW'.

  • The size and shape of all enclosures must provide animals with freedom of movement, both horizontally and vertically.

  • The authority holder shall not engage in breeding of animals to which the authority relates, if the breeding would adversely affect the welfare of the animal or would contravene legislative requirements.

  • The authority holder is required to complete and keep up-to-date animal records for all animals displayed or kept for display, as required by the Exhibited Animals Protection Regulation 2010 and prescribed standards.

  • The authority holder is required to maintain a policy of insurance, providing cover of an amount approved by the Secretary, against any liability of the holder, or of a servant or agent of the holder, for death, injury or damage that arises out of or in connection with an activity authorised by the authority.

  • Failure to comply with the terms, conditions, limitations or restrictions of this authority may result in the suspension or cancellation of the authority.

  • Must notify the Department of Primary Industries within 7 days of any changes unless otherwise specified in the Act or Regulation.

Special Conditions:

Animals must be exhibited in accordance with the 'Standards for exhibiting Australian mammals in NSW'.
